Our Mission

The International Journal of Data, Health and Development Studies (IJDHDS) exists to advance interdisciplinary research that addresses the world's most pressing challenges in health, data, and sustainable development. We publish rigorous, evidence-based scholarship that informs policy, transforms practice, and drives innovation.

We are particularly committed to amplifying the voices of researchers from Africa and underrepresented regions, providing a global platform for their work while maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing.

Our Aims

IJDHDS pursues six interconnected aims that guide everything we publish:

01
Advance Interdisciplinary Research
Foster work that integrates data science, health research, and development studies into coherent, impactful scholarship.
02
Promote Open Science
Ensure all published research is freely accessible, citable, reusable, and permanently preserved for the global community.
03
Support African Scholarship
Amplify research from African scholars and institutions on the global stage through visible, indexed publication.
04
Inform Policy & Practice
Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers, clinicians, and practitioners worldwide.
05
Maintain Ethical Excellence
Uphold COPE-compliant peer review, editorial integrity, and transparency throughout the publication process.
06
Foster Global Collaboration
Connect researchers, clinicians, and policymakers across continents through shared platforms and common goals.

Our Scope

IJDHDS welcomes submissions across a broad range of disciplines. Manuscripts may be empirical, methodological, theoretical, or review-based, provided they make a clear contribution to knowledge and are of interest to our global readership.

We particularly encourage submissions that:

  • Bridge disciplines — combining data science, health, and development perspectives.
  • Address African and global challenges — public health, food security, climate, and equity.
  • Use innovative methods — machine learning, AI, big data, or novel quantitative approaches.
  • Have real-world impact — translating research into policy or practice recommendations.

What We Don't Publish

To maintain quality and fit, IJDHDS does not publish:

  • Case reports without teaching value — single cases without broader significance or novel insight.
  • Pure literature reviews without synthesis — descriptive overviews that don't add new analysis or insight.
  • Purely theoretical work without application — abstract modeling with no practical or empirical relevance.
  • Manuscripts outside our scope — work in unrelated fields or disciplines.
  • Work with ethical concerns — manuscripts that violate our ethics policy or lack required approvals.
  • Previously published work — manuscripts that have already appeared in another journal.
